Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (nose) was hit by a pitch on his left shoulder Monday, April 29, and as he spun away, it grazed off his shoulder and into his nose. He was shaken up for a moment but remained in the game.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp has gotten off to a slow start to the year. "You can throw the ball by Kemp," said a big league coach whose team recently faced Kemp's Dodgers. "That's a bad swing right now. He reminds me of (Alex) Rios when Rios was in a funk." However, Kemp has been looking like his old self in recent days, and he's driven the ball with power to the opposite field the past two days against the New York Mets, including his first home run of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Hitting the ball hard the opposite way is usually a good sign for most hitters, especially Kemp. Hanley Ramirez's (thumb) return to the lineup in early May should only help Kemp.

Major League Baseball put out a news release Friday, April 12, concerning the suspensions handed out for the benches-clearing brawl between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. Dodgers OF Matt Kemp was not mentioned in the release, and appears to have avoided a suspension.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp is 0-for-10 to start the season but insists he's completely healthy. Kemp hit only .250 with one home run in 52 spring at-bats, too. Manager Don Mattingly isn't worried about Kemp at all. "I think Matt's pressing a little bit, that's for sure," Mattingly said. "I think he's trying to get going. Obviously, when you get into your third game and you haven't got a hit yet, it just climbs a little bit, the exact opposite of getting off to a good start."

Fantasy Tip: It's just three games, so don't go worrying or hitting the panic button just yet. Continue to ride him in your starting lineup unless the hitless streak lasts through the weekend. Then, you might want to consider benching him for a game or two until he gets going.
