Tampa Bay Rays RP Joel Peralta (Dominican Republic), C Jose Molina (Puerto Rico) and INF Leonardo Reginatto (Brazil) will all play in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Molina will serve as the backup to St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina.

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina had a slash line of .231/.293/.365 with a .658 OPS in 14 games in the Puerto Rican Winter League this offseason. He caught only two games while serving as the designated hitter for 10 games. Molina hit two homers during his time in winter ball.

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina is playing winter ball in his native Puerto Rico and is expected to remain on the roster for roughly two weeks. Molina has also committed to play for Puerto Rico in next spring's World Baseball Classic, where he'll be joined by OF Carlos Beltran. Molina had two hits and an RBI in 11 at-bats over the weekend in Puerto Rico.

Former major-league C Bengie Molina, a former standout of the San Francisco Giants and the brother of St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina, is set to join the Cardinals as the assistant hitting coach.

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina won the Platinum Glove Award, the award given to the top fielder in both the American and National Leagues. All of the Gold Glove recipients were eligible for the pair of league Platinum Gloves, with the two winners determined through fan voting. This marked the second year that Rawlings has handed out a Platinum Glove. Molina has taken home both NL honors.
