Fantasy Tip: As Sherman suggests, Youk's career with the Yanks is likely done. Don't expect him to play again this season. It's probably safe to drop him in most mixed leagues at this point. Until Alex Rodriguez (hip) returns sometime after the All-Star break, the Yanks will continue to use a combo of David Adams and Jayson Nix at the hot corner.

They placed SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) on the 60-day DL, optioned SP Adam Warren to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and called up RP Chris Bootcheck and 1B Thomas Neal. Fantasy Tip: Expect Reid Brignac to play nearly every day until Youk and/or Derek Jeter (ankle) return. He might run into minimal deep-mixed value, but that's not a safe bet. Neither Neal nor Bootcheck deserves fantasy attention.

Fantasy Tip: Youkilis and the Yankees have the benefit of a scheduled day off Monday, so Youkilis and the rest of his dinged up teammates can rest nagging injuries. Youkilis is a risky play in the upcoming week due to his back, but fantasy owners knew that heading into the season. Proceed with caution.

Fantasy Tip: Get Tex and Youk back into your starting lineups. Youkilis is still available in less than 50 percent of leagues. He should be owned, considering the lack of depth at the third base position. Youkilis is serving as the designated hitter, with David Adams at third base.

Both players will first rehab with Double-A Trenton for two games this week before rejoining the Yankees, though. Teixeira went hitless with a walk Wednesday and Youkilis went hitless with a walk, as well. Teixeira has been pain-free in his rehab but admitted that he's further along from the right side of the plate than the left. Fantasy Tip: The return of Tex and Youk will push Lyle Overbay and David Adams out of regular work and possibly roster spots. Jayson Nix will continue to see time at shortstop until Eduardo Nunez (oblique) returns. Expect Joe Girardi to look to rest Teixeira and Youkilis frequently initially, but both should be put in your lineup on a daily basis.

Fantasy Tip: The team has been extremely cautious with Youk up to this point, but it looks as though he's finally nearing a return. Jayson Nix will lose extensive playing time when Youkilis arrives. Youkilis isn't the same hitter he was with Boston, but he'll be serviceable and can give you a boost in leagues that count on-base percentage.
