Mon, 29 Apr 2013 11:32:03 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP John Lackey (biceps) got the win against the Houston Astros Sunday, April 28, after returning from the disabled list. He gave up only one run and five hits while walking two in six innings. Lackey admitted he felt "a little bit of something" in his biceps during the outing but feels that his problems will go away once he regains full arm strength, a process he thinks will take around four or five starts. "He's in a good place right now and there were no physical issues today. He came out of today fine. He does give us a seasoned veteran and a very good pitcher in that spot in the rotation," manager John Farrell said. Fantasy Tip: The Astros were probably the best team he could faced in his first start back from the disabled list in order to build confidence. Depending on the matchups, it may be a risky play to rely on Lackey over his next several starts, since he admitted he'll still be building arm strength. If he gets through his next four or five outings with decent results, it might be the time to consider rostering him in mixed leagues.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 12:53:15 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP John Lackey (biceps) threw a bullpen session Thursday, April 25, and he's expected to return to the rotation and start Sunday, April 28. C Ryan Lavarnway is expected to be sent down to make room on the roster for Lackey.
Wed, 24 Apr 2013 11:08:24 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP John Lackey (biceps) might not need another rehab assignment after having a successful outing Monday, April 22, for Double-A Portland. He's a possibility to rejoin the club to start Sunday, April 28, at home against the Houston Astros. He'll probably be limited to around five innings in his first outing off the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Deep-mixed players should start looking to stash him if he's available; he was displaying good form before his freak injury in early April. He could be a nice second-half performer once he gets his stuff in line.
