Wed, 09 May 2012 11:19:46 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays RP Casey Janssen will take over as the interim closer until RP Sergio Santos (shoulder) returns from the disabled list. RPs Jason Frasor, Darren Oliver and Luis Perez will serve in middle relief, and RP Francisco Cordero will fill in where needed. Fantasy Tip: Janssen should be added in the short term if you're hurting for saves at this juncture, but keep in mind that Santos will probably be back in another two to three weeks - he resumed throwing yesterday - unless he suffers a setback. Cordero can safely be dropped in most leagues.
Wed, 09 May 2012 05:54:26 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays RP Francisco Cordero blew his third save in his last four appearances Tuesday, May 8. He gave up five runs in one-third of an inning.
Wed, 02 May 2012 12:10:40 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays manager John Farrell is confident RP Francisco Cordero can get the job done in the ninth inning in the absence of RP Sergio Santos (shoulder). However, Cordero has given up a run in four of his last five outings, losing a game and blowing two save chances. Farrell continues to say that Cordero is the closer with Santos out.
Sat, 28 Apr 2012 13:16:25 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays RP Francisco Cordero blew his first save of the season Friday, April 27, against the Seattle Mariners. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits over one inning, with one walk and no strikeouts.
Mon, 23 Apr 2012 22:10:59 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays RP Francisco Cordero allowed a hit in a 16-pitch scoreless ninth inning Monday, April 23, against the Kansas City Royals for his second save of the season.
Sun, 22 Apr 2012 09:17:43 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays CL Sergio Santos (shoulder) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Manager John Farrell said RP Francisco Cordero will step in as the interim closer. Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should stash Santos away until he is healthy, and Cordero needs to be a target for save-hungry teams. He has posted a 4.50 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 6.0 innings of work this season.
Sat, 14 Apr 2012 11:39:34 -0700 Updating previous reports, Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos is returning to Toronto Saturday, April 14, after being present for the birth of his child in California. However, he will not be activated until Sunday, April 15, at the earliest. Manager John Farrell said Santos is expected to throw off of flat ground following the team's game against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday. RP Francisco Cordero will serve as the Blue Jays' closer until Santos is activated.
Wed, 22 Feb 2012 12:21:23 -0800 Toronto Blue Jays RP Francisco Cordero will be brought in to face a clean inning whenever possible. The team wants to avoid bringing him into a game with runners on base.
Tue, 07 Feb 2012 20:05:03 -0800 Toronto Blue Jays RP Francisco Cordero said he understands and accepts his role as setup man for RP Sergio Santos. "I will be the setup guy, I've been that before; I have to treat the eighth inning like the ninth and get us to Santos," Cordero said.
Wed, 01 Feb 2012 11:39:10 -0800 The Toronto Blue Jays finalized their one-year, $4.5 million deal with RP Francisco Cordero Wednesday, Feb. 1.
