Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports former Dallas Cowboys WR Terrell Owens, currently with the Buffalo Bills, said he became a scapegoat for Cowboys QB Tony Romo's lack of leadership. Owens said, "He was the quarterback of the team. I think everybody realized that. It was upon him to adopt that leadership role and carry that out. Obviously, they saw that didn't happen. So, for whatever reason, I'll be the scapegoat. I'm not here. Now, it's his team. I wish him well." Owens also said he has not talked to owner Jerry Jones since he was released from the Cowboys in March.

Romo said, "If there's anything those guys tell me, it's to throttle back sometimes just because I do a lot of running playing soccer and basketball and stuff to stay in shape, plus the stuff we do." He added that no such meeting occurred.

Cowboys coaches believe Romo has a penchant for showing up for training camp in just good enough shape to allow him to get out to a good start in the first half. Romo, however, has not been able to outrun the same players in the second half of seasons, in addition to committing more turnovers.

Romo has also tweaked his footwork, which he believes will speed up his delivery.

His job is to deliver the ball. My job is to catch it and get open. That's how you win, and that's all I want to do.

"I just feel more comfortable," Williams said. "And I'm not the only one who's feeling that way. Tony is more comfortable with me. (Offensive coordinator) Jason Garrett is more comfortable calling plays for me. We're all developing that trust, and that's something we didn't have last season. Unfortunately, I was the one who wound up looking bad because of it."
