He struck out three times Friday, and then did it again Saturday, April 20. He has never struck out four times in a game.
Tue, 19 Mar 2013 15:10:37 -0700 Miami Marlins manager Mike Redmond said he may choose to go with a platoon in center field to start the year. OF Christian Yelich may be Redmond's top choice, but he's expected to start the season at Double-A Jacksonville. Yelich is hitting .381 this spring and leads the team with five home runs and 13 RBIs. "I play him all the time. I love him. Like I said, he's had a great spring. He's done everything we've asked of him. But at the end of the day, he's never had an at-bat above A ball, and we have to make sure we're doing the right thing for him and the organization," Redmond said. OFs Chris Coghlan, Gorkys Hernandez and Justin Ruggiano (back) are the realistic candidates. Ruggiano is 1-for-11 after returning from a back injury and doesn't look 100 percent healthy. Coghlan has a minor league option left, but he appears to deserve a spot the most. The team will not move OF Juan Pierre from left field to center.
Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano is in line for regression after a very fortunate hit rate last season as he emerged out of nowhere. He's somewhat intriguing, but mainly only for his power. Coghlan and Hernandez only stand out in NL-only leagues, and their luster is lessened with platoon possibilities. Yelich will probably see major league at-bats later in the season.

Pierre said it "was a no-brainer" to return to Miami. "It's a special place. I met my wife when I was with the Marlins," Pierre said.
