Philadelphia Phillies 1B Jim Thome (back) will visit with a team doctor before the game against the Chicago Cubs Sunday, April 29. He said it feels the same as last night, when he was lifted from the game in the fifth inning because of back tightness.

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Jim Thome made his first start at first base since 2007 in the game Sunday, April 8, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was perfect in the field and turned a 3-6-3 double play in the fourth inning. Thome finished hitless in three at-bats with a strikeout.

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Jim Thome played seven innings at first base in a minor league game Thursday, March 22, and is getting more comfortable at the position. "We're getting close," Thome said. "After seven innings, I'll be curious to see how I feel (today). I think we've done this the right way. We've progressed. My body is getting to the point where I'm starting to adapt to playing defense."
