Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh guarantees playoffs

Greg Johns, of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh said during an interview with the Sporting News that the team will make the playoffs this season. Houshmandzadeh also predicted Pro Bowl nominations for himself and QB Matt Hasselbeck. "I just want to let everyone know that Matt Hasselbeck and I will be leading the Seahawks to the playoffs this season," Houshmandzadeh said. "And we'll be going to the Pro Bowl as a tandem. We're both going to have top five seasons: He'll have a top five quarterback season, and I'll have a top five receiving season. I'll put up stats I've never had before yards-wise because they're allowing me to be a complete receiver."

Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh said during a radio interview that he believes 2009 could be a special season for the team. "We're going to be good," Houshmandzadeh said. "Real good. Everybody stays healthy, ah man. We're going to be something special. The talent we have on this team and then coach Mora brings everything together just right. Cool dude. Not because I just got there, but everything I've seen from Jim Mora has showed me that we're going to be really good just the way he relates to the players… They didn't put us on TV so when we start running through everybody like a wet paper bag, don't flex us in late in the season when we're the best. Don't flex us in, we'll have our coming-out party in the playoffs."

Jim Corbett, of USAToday.com, reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh said one of the reasons he signed with the Seahawks instead of the Minnesota Vikings was because of QB Matt Hasselbeck. "It was just the fact when you look at both teams, Minnesota and Seattle, Seattle had the more steady quarterback play. That's obvious. They just had the better situation at the quarterback spot. And Matt will affect the outcome of many, many games. I felt more comfortable playing with Matt. He's a real smart quarterback. He's one of the most intelligent quarterbacks in the game," Houshmandzadeh said.

Updating a previous report, ESPN.com reports the Seattle Seahawks have signed unrestricted free-agent WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Bengals) to a five-year deal worth $40 million, sources told ESPN's Michael Smith. The contract includes $15 million in guarantees.
