Tue, 21 May 2013 20:31:39 -0700 The Texas Rangers have a doubleheader scheduled for Monday, May 27. The team could use SP Ross Wolf, who is expected to start Wednesday, May 22, too. SPs Josh Lindblom and Martin Perez are also candidates. SP Yu Darvish will start the other game of the twin bill.
Fri, 17 May 2013 11:09:48 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish threw career-high 130 pitches during his win over the Detroit Tigers Thursday, May 16, and manager Ron Washington defended his decision to let his ace go that deep. "I saw the big lead," Washington said. "The lineup they got, it's not soft anywhere in it. Even though we had the lead, I wasn't comfortable. I felt like he needed to get us through the eighth inning to give our bullpen a break, and he certainly did that." Darvish also threw 127 pitches two starts ago, and he's averaged 120.7 pitches per start this season. He went over the 130-pitch mark seven times in 28 starts in his last season in Japan, and his highest total in a game was 145 pitches. Fantasy Tip: Darvish is a workhorse then and he is now for the Rangers and Washington. He has electric stuff and outdueled Justin Verlander with ease. It remains to be seen if Darvish will tire out later in the year or during the hot summer in Texas, though.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 11:45:27 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish tossed six scoreless innings and gave up only three hits while striking out 11 against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Wednesday, April 24, lowering his ERA to 1.65 on the season. It was his 11th double-digit strikeout game in 34 starts. He didn't allow a runner past first base, and he is 5-1 with a 3.83 ERA in eight starts against the Angels. Darvish has allowed only one home run in his last 11 regular season starts.
Sun, 14 Apr 2013 07:36:55 -0700 Updating previous reports, the Texas Rangers have decided to push SP Yu Darvish's (blister) next start back to Friday, April 19. SPs Derek Holland, Justin Grimm and Alexi Ogando will start against the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series beginning Tuesday, April 16.
Fri, 12 Apr 2013 18:29:18 -0700 The Texas Rangers could use a scheduled day off Monday, April 15, to push back SP Yu Darvish (blister) if his blister issues affects him in a third straight start Friday, April 12.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 13:39:26 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (finger) threw a successful bullpen session Wednesday, April 10, and manager Ron Washington said Darvish's blister is smaller than it was before. The team is hoping he won't have to miss any time because of it. Fantasy Tip: The team nor Darvish have indicated that this is a very serious issue that will affect his pitching. Start him this Friday like you normally would any other start.
Mon, 08 Apr 2013 15:53:57 -0700 Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said SP Yu Darvish's (finger) blister issue wasn't as bad Sunday, April 7, as it was in his first start against the Houston Astros. "It's not something that's going to be an issue every time he takes the ball," Washington said. Darvish is on schedule to start again Friday, April 12, against the Seattle Mariners.
Mon, 08 Apr 2013 11:36:04 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (finger) said the blister on his finger didn't bother him during his start Sunday, April 7, and he expects to make his next start Friday, April 12, against the Seattle Mariners. Darvish also had a blister during his near-perfect game against the Houston Astros in his first start of the year. Fantasy Tip: Although Darvish said the blister didn't bother him, his lack of command hints that it may have affected him at least a little bit. This could become an issue if his blister continues to affect his pitching, but it shouldn't be enough to deter you from starting him against the Mariners this week.
Sun, 07 Apr 2013 21:52:32 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (blister) left his start early Sunday, April 7, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim due to a blister on his right ring finger. He actually developed the blister in his first start of the season and worked through it, but the blister flared up again Sunday. He still ended up picking up the victory before departing. Fantasy Tip: Darvish is scheduled to make his next scheduled start Friday, April 12, against the Seattle Mariners, and he might be a bit of a question mark since the blister has affected him in each of his first two outings. Still, he has two wins in the two outings, and is worth a roll of the dice. He could be pushed back a day or two, and still make a start in the upcoming week.
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 08:39:51 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (finger) is throwing a bullpen session Friday, April 5, and is still on schedule to pitch Sunday, April 7. The team is more worried about the amount of pitches he threw in his first start than the blister on his finger.
