LaHair has seven of the team's 14 homers this year, and he has hit safely in his last nine games and reached base safely in 21 straight. The Cubs had only nine homers in April, the fewest in the majors, but have hit five in the last two games. They have hit home runs in a season-high four straight games. Castro's dinger was his first, while Soto has two on the season.

He is on pace for 81 errors this season. "Sometimes when I make errors, it's tough for me," Castro said. "(I think) that's not gonna happen because I work too much on my defense. But I'm still working, concentrating, I'll be good on my defense, too." Manager Dale Sveum said he won't talk to a player about every mistake, but did notice a mechanical issue on the first error which he'll discuss with Castro.
