Mike Klis and Bill Williamson, of The Denver Post, report the main reason for Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry winning his appeal was the procedural mistakes made by the league. The sample in question was taken Aug. 27 and the sample showed 21 nanograms of THC, the primary chemical in marijuana; the NFL counts anything higher than 15 nanograms as a positive test. Henry denied the positive test and attempted to block the testing of the second sample without a specialist, chosen by him, present when the test occurred. His attorney filed a motion stating the NFL had knowingly violated a temporary restraining order to block the testing of the second sample. It was ruled in his appeal case that the league misstated that he tested clean on Aug. 10, when he tested clean on Aug. 23 as well as Aug. 31. Henry's lawyers used this information to argue the league's testing procedures and oversight in the case. He is the first player to win an appeal when facing his third violation.
