Reddick will be sent out for a rehab assignment after that if he doesn't have any setbacks. Fantasy Tip: This is very positive news for Reddick, who was considering the possibility that he might need to have surgery on his wrist. When he eventually returns, it'll mean even less playing time for Chris B. Young and Seth Smith.

Manager Bob Melvin appeared optimistic that he would not require surgery but he is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list when he is eligible to return Wednesday, May 22. Reddick will not accompany the club at the beginning of their road trip and needs to take batting practice and participate in a minor league rehab assignment before he is activated.

Young (quadriceps) also sidelined, Michael Taylor should continue seeing playing time, sustaining his speculative deep-mixed value. Barton will probably be used in the mishmash of DH options and warrants a flyer strictly in AL-only games; his worth depends heavily on playing time, not necessarily stick skills.

The move has not been made yet, but if Reddick goes to the DL the Athletics may call up 1B Daric Barton from Triple-A Sacramento. Fantasy Tip: Well, this would explain Reddick's power outage at the plate. If his wrist has bothered him for longer than just a few days, it would explain his sub-.200 batting average. Reddick's job could be in jeopardy if he has to be on the DL for a while; the Athletics have a lot of outfielders.

He will receive an injection Tuesday and is expected to miss a couple of days as a result. Fantasy Tip: It's possible that this wrist injury is related to the wrist ailment he suffered in April. He will swing a bat later this week and attempt to play this weekend, but you have to wonder if his wrist has been responsible for his slow start this year.
