The San Diego Chargers want to re-sign unrestricted free-agent QB Billy Volek. The Chargers, however, do not know yet if Volek wants to return as the backup to QB Philip Rivers again this season. The team plans to make an offer to Volek, possibly in the three-year, $9 million range they did after the 2007 season. If Volek is looking for a chance to start somewhere, the Chargers may move on.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers was pulled in the fourth quarter of the Week 15 game Thursday, Dec. 16, against the San Francisco 49ers due to the lopsided score and not due to an injury. Rivers completed 19-of-25 passes for 273 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. QB Billy Volek finished out the game.
