Tue, 22 Nov 2011 08:56:47 -0800 Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said he holds the play of the offensive line accountable for RB Chris Johnson's struggles in Week 11. Johnson had just 13 yards on 12 carries. "As a group, for the limited time we had to run it, we didn't block well. We were very average and inconsistent and that's where you go when you do that for eight carries," Munchak said. "I'm not going to give any excuses. We would have liked to have had more opportunities, and that's my fault. So if you only get 10 carries, you've got to do a much better job than we did with 10 carries. So that starts with the offensive line, and anytime you have this conversation, it starts with them. They know that, and we need to do better than that."
Sun, 20 Nov 2011 19:49:25 -0800 Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson had 12 carries for just 13 yards in Week 11 against the Atlanta Falcons. Johnson also added three receptions for 15 yards.

However, Johnson posted 55 of his 64 rushing yards in the first half. "What you saw in the first half is what we hope will continue the rest of the year," Munchak said. Sun, 06 Nov 2011 16:52:32 -0800 Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson carried 14 times for 64 yards in Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he added four catches for 46 yards. The 110 yards from scrimmage were his second most of the season, eclipsed only by his 112 total yards in Week 4.
Sun, 06 Nov 2011 08:52:46 -0800 The Tennessee Titans could move on from the contract of RB Chris Johnson after this season, after paying him just $13 million. Johnson has $17 million of $30 million on his new contract guaranteed, but it's guaranteed for injury only, not for diminished production. Only $8 million of the $17 million does not convert to skill guarantee until the fifth day after the waiver period in 2012. The team could release Johnson for a decline in productivity after one season despite his long-term extension, and they won't owe him anymore than $13 million for this year. His $8 million salary next year de-escalates by $300,000 if he does not reach 1,000 yards rushing this year.

"This is a situation where it can't get no worse, really, so it can't do nothing but go up. I'm always eager to get back on the field and practice after a bad game and try to make it better."

Tue, 01 Nov 2011 12:12:07 -0700 Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said he has no plans to even out the carries between RBs Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer. "There's no rhyme or reason to it right now. If there was, I'd let you know," Munchak said. "We're just trying to get something fixed that hasn't been as productive as we'd like, and we're not doing anything different .... We don't feel any different about Chris Johnson. All of the above. Nothing's changing. Our philosophy hasn't changed." However, Munchak also said he will play whoever gives the team the best chance to win.
Mon, 31 Oct 2011 16:08:44 -0700 Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak is making it clear that RB Chris Johnson is still the team's starting running back despite a terrible season to this point. RB Javon Ringer will continue to see work, though.
Mon, 31 Oct 2011 06:10:59 -0700 Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said the flow of the game will dictate how carries will be split between RBs Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer. "I think every game will be different," Munchak said. "I just think it depends on the flow of the game, how it's going. I don't think we're consciously trying to decide by series who's playing. We know we're a work in progress as a run game. We know we're not where we want to be yet by any means."
Sun, 30 Oct 2011 14:00:59 -0700 Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson rushed for 34 yards on 14 carries against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.

Thu, 27 Oct 2011 06:57:18 -0700 Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson said he is frustrated with his poor season so far. However, Johnson vows his struggles are not because he has lost a step. "People should worry about me losing burst once I get in the open field and somebody catching me," Johnson said. "I don't feel I've been in the open field enough times for anybody to question my burst or anything like that." Head coach Mike Munchak agrees with Johnson's assessment. "We're not rushing the way we were, then it hasn't looked the same that way as far as his speed. I'm sure his speed is fine," Munchak said. "I don't think it's his speed why we're not rushing for more yards."

Tue, 25 Oct 2011 08:19:18 -0700 Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak is backing RB Chris Johnson by saying Johnson is not the source of the Titans' anemic ground game. Johnson had just 10 carries for 18 yards in Week 7, and said after the game that he's confident he's doing what he's supposed to do. Munchak said everyone shares the blame for the struggles. "Chris has had a great career here in three short years," Munchak said. "I think it's hard when you're going through a spot for the first time in his career, he's not having the success he's had for three years. I think all athletes struggle with that concept ... To run the ball well, it takes 10 other guys."
Mon, 24 Oct 2011 06:18:15 -0700 Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson's conditioning when he ended his holdout and reported to the team was perhaps not as good as it needed to be, and that that conditioning issue could be a factor in why Johnson has been having problems getting on track this season.
Sun, 23 Oct 2011 18:25:50 -0700 The Tennessee Titans are dead last in the NFL in rushing, but RB Chris Johnson doesn't feel as if he is the problem. "I wouldn't say I am the issue. I'm very confident I've been doing the things - I do," Johnson said. "I can't do nothing but keep working hard."

Mon, 10 Oct 2011 18:08:13 -0700 Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said Monday, Oct. 10, that RB Chris Johnson needs to play better, and the team needs to block better for him. The Titans are last in the NFL in rushing yards per game. "He needs to play better, we need to block better," Munchak said. "We all know that. When he is having 50 yards per game, that is not going to cut it. He is a great player and he needs to play great, and right now that's not happening."
