By placing Warner on the list, he will not count against the team's roster limit and his salary is off the books unless he decides to come back. If Warner decides to play again, all he needs to do is notify the league in writing.

Sat, 30 Jan 2010 07:13:55 -0800 Andrew Brandt, of the National Football Post, reports the Arizona Cardinals have the legal right to collect $7.5 million from QB Kurt Warner due to his skipping out on half of the contract for which he was paid a $15 million signing bonus after announcing his retirement. As per the contract, $7.5 million of the $15 million bonus is scheduled to be paid out in equal installments throughout the 2010 season. The language of the contract allows for the Cardinals to not make those installments if Warner is not on the roster in 2010, meaning he will not receive those weekly installments of the $7.5 million.
