Chicago Cubs SP Jeff Samardzija allowed five hits and a run in a 105-pitch outing Monday, May 7, against the Atlanta Braves, picking up his fourth win in five decisions. He routinely displayed a mid-90s fastball during the outing. "You find what works and stick with it. You got to mix it up. These guys are good," Samardzija said. "You get into a fastball mode, these hitters can hit 95, 96 like it's nothing. You got to keep them off balance."

Chicago Cubs WR Jeff Samardzija will make his next scheduled start Tuesday, May 1, against the Cincinnati Reds. The move is being made to allow SP Chris Volstad to work Monday, April 30, and work on regular rest.

Chicago Cubs SP Jeff Samardzija wasn't as sharp in his second start of the season Friday, April 13, against the St. Louis Cardinals, but he picked up the win anyway. Samardzija allowed five earned runs, 10 hits and a walk with five strikeouts, needing 103 pitches to go five innings.
