Tue, 21 May 2013 11:10:35 -0700 The Cincinnati Reds optioned 1B Neftali Soto to Triple-A Louisville Monday, May 20, to make room on the roster for SP Johnny Cueto.
Mon, 20 May 2013 11:40:28 -0700 Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto is concerned that his windup has led to injuries. "I was discussing it with the head trainer, 'Do you think my windup is too strong and that's why I am getting so many muscle injuries?'" Cueto said. Cueto isn't worried about changing his windup midseason. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Cueto will actually make the decision to tweak his windup this year, but if he doesn't, he'll surely work on that in the offseason. Either way, Cueto should be considered a nice No. 1 starter for the rest of the season.
Sun, 19 May 2013 23:53:01 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (oblique) may change his pitching mechanics once he returns to the starting lineup. Cueto believes a change he made in 2011, which involved him turning his back to the batter in windup, may have contributed to nagging injuries.
Sat, 18 May 2013 10:22:57 -0700 The Cincinnati Reds have optioned SP Tony Cingrani to Triple-A Louisville. In a corresponding move, the team recalled 1B Neftali Soto. Fantasy Tip: Cingrani is going down to the minors to open up a spot in the rotation for Johnny Cueto, who is coming back from a lat injury. Owners could consider keeping Cingrani on their roster because he could return to the team in the near future.
Wed, 15 May 2013 14:07:15 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) is set to return from the disabled list and start Monday, May 20, which is the date for SP Mike Leake's next start. However, The Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay doesn't think that necessarily means Leake will be bumped from the rotation. Fantasy Tip: Make plans to put Cueto back on your active fantasy baseball roster. Although Tony Cingrani (shoulder) had his start pushed back due to minor arm troubles, Leake still seems like the likely candidate to be bumped from the rotation. We won't know for sure until next week, though, so stay tuned.
Tue, 14 May 2013 14:05:04 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani (shoulder) has been pushed back in the rotation because he's been dealing with shoulder soreness, according to manager Dusty Baker. Fantasy Tip: With Johnny Cueto (lat) nearing a return from the disabled list, this could affect Cingrani's short-term standing in the rotation if he can't make his next start. It could also mean that Mike Leake stays in the rotation. Stay tuned.
Mon, 13 May 2013 14:31:00 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) will make another rehab start for Single-A Dayton Tuesday, May 14. Cueto gave up a run and four hits while striking out four in three innings for Dayton last week. Fantasy Tip: Cueto is very close to returning to the team's rotation, and it looks more and more like Mike Leake will be the one who is bumped. Tony Cingrani has pitched very well since he was recalled and deserves to stick.
Wed, 08 May 2013 11:49:20 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Dayton Thursday, May 9, after he threw a successful bullpen session earlier this week. Fantasy Tip: Cueto is nearing a return to the starting rotation unless he suffers another setback. He will get his rotation post back, it's just a question of who will get bumped as a result, Tony Cingrani or Mike Leake. Stay tuned.
Tue, 07 May 2013 12:12:17 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Monday, May 6, and didn't have any setbacks. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear when Cueto will throw next or when he'll embark on a minor league rehab assignment to build arm strength. The Reds will be cautious in bringing him back now after he already had one setback. Plus, it keeps them from making a decision on who to bump from the rotation when he returns. Mike Leake is probably the most vulnerable right now with Tony Cingrani pitching well.
Mon, 06 May 2013 12:57:30 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) will throw a bullpen session Monday, May 6.
