Giants | Pablo Sandoval has fractured hamate bone

Thu, 03 May 2012 09:59:46 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval (hand) has been diagnosed with a fractured left hamate bone. Sandoval missed six weeks and 41 games after having surgery to fix the same injury to his right hand last year.

Fantasy Tip: Conor Gillaspie is taking the Kung Fu Panda's roster spot and may offer the most upside of any player San Fran would have fill in at the hot corner. He has a .362/.417/.521 line at Triple-A Fresno and is worth a pickup in NL leagues in case they opt to go with him regularly. The Giants may plug in one of their many no-hit utility infielders at times. The fantasy options here aren't attractive.
