Les East, of The Advocate, reports the New Orleans Saints have not had a 1,000-yard rusher since former RB Deuce McAllister rushed for 1,057 yards in 2006 as he and RB Reggie Bush combined for 1,622 yards. In the last two seasons, the team's top three rushers have failed to match what McAllister and Bush had in 2006.

Les East, of The Advocate, reports New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said the team has good depth at the running back position, which should create good competition. RB Pierre Thomas is a candidate to serve as a complement to RB Reggie Bush, but Payton has liked what he has seen from FB Mike Bell and RB Lynell Hamilton. "I think that we have good competition," Payton said. "I think those guys understand their roles and understand what they're competing for. They're all competing for touches - be it hand-offs or passing plays or reps in a game - and we have three fullbacks that are doing the same thing, all with a little bit of a different background and experience."

Brian Allee-Walsh, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush (knee) said his recovery from microfracture surgery is going good so far. Bush said, "I'm feeling really good; I'm about 75 percent. The coaches are pleased with my rehab and the way it's going. I'm pleased. I feel like I'm ahead of schedule. I'm pretty much doing everything right now (in offseason workouts)." Bush is expected to be limited when organized team activities start Tuesday, May 19.
