The Cleveland Indians re-signed SP Daisuke Matsuzaka and RP Matt Capps to minor league deals Tuesday, March 26, after both were released from their previous deals. Both will likely be reassigned to Triple-A Columbus this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: This was merely a way for Cleveland to avoid paying both pitchers $100,000. Neither should be considered fantasy-relevant unless they are recalled, but even then, they'll probably be relegated to the deepest of AL-only leagues.

Technically, he is still a member of the team's big league camp as a non-roster invitee, and the team informed him they have interest in keeping him in the minor leagues. Before accepting or declining the opportunity to work at Triple-A Columbus, Capps and his agent are searching for a bullpen job in the majors.

Cleveland Indians RP Matt Capps (shoulder) is aiming to start pitching in Cactus League games in two weeks if everything goes well between now and then. "I know when I'm healthy, I'll take my chances with anybody," Capps said. "If I'm healthy in two weeks, and I can go out and physically compete, I think everything will work out pretty well." Capps is scheduled to throw batting practice Wednesday, Feb. 20.

Cleveland Indians SP Daisuke Matsuzaka must be released by March 26 or he'll receive a $100,000 bonus before going to the minor leagues, and the team faces the same situation with DH Jason Giambi and RP Matt Capps. If they go to the minors, each one of them has an out clause for June 1. 2B Ryan Raburn also has an out clause in his contract for June 1.
