With Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (foot) relegated to designated hitter duties due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, OF Mark Trumbo made another start at his old position, first base, Sunday, April 21, against the Detroit Tigers. Trumbo was error-free, and he went 1-for-4 with a pair of walks and the game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mark Trumbo, who will spend most of his time as the designated hitter this year, said he will spend more time riding a stationary bike and hitting in the cage rather than studying video of his swing. "I'm trying to get away from overanalyzing things, especially on video." Trumbo said. "I would like to get back to trusting what I feel up there and doing it that way. If I do DH, the temptation of sitting in that film room is going to be really high. I'm going to do everything I can to fight that."

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said with OF Mark Trumbo as the team's primary designated hitter, he'll find it much easier to use 1B Albert Pujols and OF Josh Hamilton in the DH role in order to rest them throughout the long season.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said OF Mike Trout will hit leadoff this year, followed by 1B Albert Pujols at No. 3, OF Josh Hamilton at cleanup and OF Mark Trumbo probably as the fifth hitter. He could go with matchups for the No. 2 spot.

The Miami Marlins are pushing for Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mark Trumbo in trade talks involving SP Ricky Nolasco. This confirms a report that the Marlins aren't very interested in OF Peter Bourjos.

The Atlanta Braves have expressed interest in Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 3B/OF Mark Trumbo. However, the Angels are more likely to trade OF Peter Bourjos than Trumbo because DH/1B Kendrys Morales will become a free agent after the 2014 season and because Trumbo could see increased playing time at first base as 1B Albert Pujols gets older.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are an unlikely trade destination for New York Mets SP R.A. Dickey because the Mets aren't all that thrilled with the idea of acquiring OFs Peter Bourjos or Mark Trumbo. The Texas Rangers could be an option, but the Mets want more than just 3B Mike Olt.
