"He's going to be a piece we're going to have to have. Like I said to him, 'You've got to still take it slow.' Hopefully by the end of spring training he gets into a couple of games," manager Terry Collins said.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas worked out at third base in camp Wednesday, Feb. 25, and he was rough around the edges at the hot corner, bobbling some balls and misplaying others at times while showing an improper technique. Tomas, 24, was primarily an outfielder in Cuba, but he is downplaying the transition. At 6-2, 230 pounds, manager Chip Hale said the team needs to make sure his thick, strong build will be able to hold up at third base. The D-backs will have to make a decision some point next month on where Tomas will play.

Just trying to roll through it as quick as I can, doing the things I need to do to get a little leaner and do things like that, but my strength is still there, my power is still there, so I feel very good."
