Cincinnati Reds OF Ryan Ludwick is excited about playing in the Great American Ball Park, where he has hit .276 with six homers and 21 RBIs in 105 career at-bats. "Playing in San Diego screwed me up," Ludwick said. "I'm not using that as an excuse or a crutch, but it turned me into a dead pull hitter. I got away from what I was as a hitter."

He has been taking batting practice, running in the pool, throwing, and getting some necessary work at third base, as he transitions across the diamond due to the offseason signing of free-agent 1B Albert Pujols (Cardinals). "Everything feels fine, and I'm able to do everything I hoped I would be able to," Trumbo said.

The Miami Marlins treated Cuban free-agent OF Yoenis Cespedes to an oceanside lunch Wednesday, Feb. 8, before giving him a tour of their new $151 million stadium. "Obviously as a Cuban playing here in Miami, it could be an interesting situation," baseball operations president Larry Beinfest said. The Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox have also expressed a serious interest in Cespedes, with several other teams including the Cleveland Indians also showing an interest.
