Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Thursday, March 13, and it went well. It was his first time on a mound since being shut down Feb. 28. If everything goes according to plan, Walker is still unlikely to be ready before mid- to late-April. "I just want him to get his regular work in," manager Lloyd McClendon said. "He's doing fine. I understand the inquiries about him and wondering about his health. But he's fine. He needs to just go back to being one of the regular guys."
FANTASY TIP: Walker is very young. Keep that in mind. The M's won't overdo it to rush him back in the season's first month. Regardless of how much time he misses in April, he's still worth drafting in all leagues, but his price should come down to more realistic levels now.

Minnesota Twins SS Pedro Florimon (appendix) is scheduled to play in a minor league game Friday, March 14, and he's been taking batting practice and fielding groundballs for the last week. He faced live pitching Thursday, March 13. However, Florimon may not be ready for opening day. INFs Eduardo Escobar, Jason Bartlett and Danny Santana are candidates to take Florimon's place.
FANTASY TIP: If the Twins are playing it cautious, they'll probably sit Florimon out to start the year. His replacement won't be worth a roster spot on your team, and Florimon should only be looked at in AL leagues.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett (thumb) plans to pitch through a sprained right thumb and make his start Friday, March 14. "I don't want to fall behind," said Beckett. "I think I can get through it."
FANTASY TIP: Beckett knows he needs to pitch this spring to lock up the No. 5 rotation spot, but fighting through his thumb injury could make things worse. If he doesn't aggravate his thumb, expect Beckett to open the year rounding out the Dodgers rotation.

The Arizona Cardinals have signed free-agent WR Ted Ginn Jr. (Panthers) to an undisclosed three-year deal Thursday, March 13.
FANTASY TIP: Ginn's greatest contributions will come on special teams. He is unlikely to be worth rostering as a wide receiver unless injuries open up significant playing time.

The Buffalo Bills re-signed TE Scott Chandler to an undisclosed two-year deal Thursday, March 13.
FANTASY TIP: Chandler had a career year in 2013, but his ceiling probably falls as a midrange TE1 with the right matchups.
