The Washington Nationals have inquired about the Houston Astros' relief pitchers as the trade deadline nears, according to a person familiar with the situation. The Astros have scouting both Single-A Potomac and Triple-A Syracuse over the weekend. Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar said he felt great in his start against the Kansas City Royals Sunday, July 22, in which he went seven innings. Salazar showed good velocity in the outing and made some adjustments early that helped him stick around in the game longer. The seven innings matched his longest start of the year, and it was the first time he didn't walk anyone.
FANTASY TIP: Salazar was everyone's sweetheart during draft season, but he quickly flamed out due to his inefficiency on the mound. Now that he appears to have worked out the kinks in the minors, he could be an excellent source of K's down the stretch in AL-only and deep mixed leagues.
