New York Mets manager Terry Collins said RP Jose Valverde remains the team's closer after allowing home runs to three of the last eight batters he's faced. Valverde gave up two home runs with a five-run lead in the ninth inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday, April 16. His ERA has risen to 6.14.
FANTASY TIP: It's way too soon to start looking for a change at the back end of the Mets' bullpen. Valverde will be prone to the long ball, but he's earned a little more rope to start the season. New York doesn't have a wealth of other options with closing experience, either.

Seattle Mariners SP Blake Beavan (shoulder) landed on the disabled list with right shoulder tendonitis after he was only able to go four innings against the Texas Rangers. He said he has "dead arm" from a knot in his shoulder. "I just had no life on my ball," he said. "It's just frustrating because I had a great opportunity to help these guys and fill the void of other guys being down. Now I'm in the same situation, but hopefully it's something where in the next 10 days we can get out of there and slide back into the action and help us win some ballgames."

San Diego Padres 3B Chase Headley (biceps) is out with a right biceps strain Wednesday, April 16, but the team is hoping he only misses one day.
FANTASY TIP: Perhaps this injury is the reason why Headley has been struggling at the plate lately. In any event, it doesn't look to be serious. Check back tomorrow in daily leagues before putting him back in your lineup.

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker (shoulder) has been diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement and will be shut down for two weeks, according to general manager Jack Zduriencik.
FANTASY TIP: Bad news here for those stashing Walker and hoping his season debut would come soon. It'll be at least another month now and probably a month and a half until Walker has a realistic shot at entering the Mariners' rotation. In shallow standard leagues, if you don't have the room for Walker in a DL spot, you should consider cutting bait.

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper (quadriceps) was scratched from the lineup Wednesday, April 16. 1B Tyler Moore is starting in left field.
FANTASY TIP: Harper has been dealing with a tight quad the last several days. It's nothing serious, but the Nats know that it could spiral out of control if they aren't careful. Check back tomorrow to see if Harper is playing.

Miami Marlins SP Jacob Turner (shoulder) will throw a bullpen Friday, April 18, and should be ready for a rehab assignment shortly after that. The team doesn't need a fifth starter after Sunday, April 20, until May 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, so SP Kevin Slowey might only receive one start.
FANTASY TIP: Slowey probably isn't worth adding, even in NL-only leagues, because his start Sunday is likely to be his last, at least for a while.

Boston Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli (finger) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 16.
FANTASY TIP: Napoli will be evaluated on a daily basis, and he'll play when the soreness in his finger subsides. Take him out of your lineup in daily leagues.
