Tue, 22 Jul 2014 17:17:08 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Zach Britton (arm) was hit in the right arm by a comebacker in his appearance Monday, July 21, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He cannot straighten his arm, but it is his non-pitching arm.

FANTASY TIP: It's uncertain if Britton will be unavailable due to the injury, but the good news is that it wasn't the arm he uses to throw. If a save situation pops up Tuesday and he is not called upon, you'll know why.

Tigers | Joel Hanrahan still a longshot

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 17:16:12 -0700

Detroit Tigers RP Joel Hanrahan (elbow) is still considered a longshot to pitch this season.

FANTASY TIP: Hanrahan signed with the team for one season, and it appears they might not get any return on that investment. Fantasy owners have long since ignored him.

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 17:15:35 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Andy Dirks (back) resumed baseball activities Tuesday, July 22.

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 17:14:41 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Drew VerHagen (side) will have an MRI on his lower left side, trainer Kevin Rand said Tuesday, July 22. The test might also lead to a bone scan.

FANTASY TIP: VerHagen was apparently injured in his major league debut and start against Cleveland over the weekend.

Rangers | Jake Smolinksi targeting Wednesday

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 17:14:20 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Jake Smolinski (foot) is hopeful of returning to the lineup Wednesday, July 23. "As of right now, it's nothing to be concerned about," manager Ron Washington said Tuesday, July 22. "It's just sore where it hit off his foot."

Texas Rangers OF Alex Rios (ankle) is expected to return to the starting lineup Wednesday, July 23, against the New York Yankees. Jaguars | Ace Sanders update

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 16:44:00 -0700

"Obviously, people say things are there are rumors, but I don't worry about it too much."

49ers | Marcus Lattimore may practice soon

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 16:30:43 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) may be on the practice field sooner rather than later, according to a source. The team is being cautious with Lattimore, but he is reportedly fine.

FANTASY TIP: Even if he does practice, Lattimore still has RBs Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde and Kendall Hunter to contend with. His only value is in dynasty leagues at this point.

Ravens | Joe Flacco has high expectations

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 16:27:17 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco expects the team to operate at a high level despite learning a new offense. Flacco said the team needs to quickly correct the mistakes they make and keep them from occurring again.

FANTASY TIP: It's ironic that Flacco expects mistakes to be corrected, considering he threw a career-high 22 interceptions last season. Those mistakes are the main reason why Flacco is an unreliable fantasy quarterback and should only be drafted as a backup.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles to hold out?

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 16:10:37 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles will not report to training camp, according to a source. Charles is reportedly holding out for more money.

FANTASY TIP: Charles has proven to be one of the top real-life and fantasy running backs in football. Keep tabs on the situation, but Charles is still a top-three running back if/when he reports.

Jaguars | Ace Sanders suspended, will miss camp

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:52:04 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Ace Sanders (undisclosed) is facing a four-game suspension. He will miss training camp due to personal issues.

FANTASY TIP: It's a tough break for Sanders, assuming the suspension holds up, but it does add value to WRs Cecil Shorts, Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson for the season's first four games. Even with the added value, none of the Jaguars' receivers are reliable fantasy options.

Nationals | Adam LaRoche could sit Wednesday

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:50:09 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Adam LaRoche (rest) could get a day off Wednesday, July 23, according to manager Matt Williams.

FANTASY TIP: The Nationals face left-handed pitcher Jorge De La Rosa tomorrow, so resting LaRoche makes sense. Unfortunately, fantasy owners are potentially missing a game played at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Bills | Marcell Dareus returns

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:44:25 -0700

Buffalo Bills DT Marcell Dareus returned to training camp Tuesday, July 22, after leaving Monday, July 21, for a court hearing.

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:42:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma Wednesday, July 23, to start against the New York Mets.

FANTASY TIP: Add Walker for tomorrow's start, and hope he sticks in the rotation. He should be owned in all deep mixed leagues and AL-only formats.

Browns | Josh Gordon to practice

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:40:42 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (hamstring) will practice when training camp starts, according to head coach Mike Pettine, despite his impending suspension.

FANTASY TIP: This is no reason to get your hopes up with Gordon despite the news of him practicing. His year-long suspension is all but guaranteed at this point, it's just not official yet.

Chargers | Danny Woodhead extended

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:34:31 -0700

San Diego Chargers RB Danny Woodhead has signed a two-year contract extension. Financial terms were undisclosed.

FANTASY TIP: Woodhead is a prolific fantasy running back in PPR scoring leagues with much lower value in standard leagues. One drawback to Woodhead is the deep Chargers' running back corps with Ryan Mathews, Donald Brown and Woodhead. Still, he has RB2 upside in PPR leagues and is a fringe RB3 in standard leagues.

Reds | Devin Mesoraco sitting

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:33:24 -0700

Cincinnati Reds C Devin Mesoraco (rest) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 22, against the Milwaukee Brewers. Manager Bryan Price wanted C Brayan Pena to catch SP Homer Bailey. Price also noted Mesoraco is scuffling a bit at the plate.

FANTASY TIP: Pena is dirt cheap on daily sites, and the matchup against rookie Jimmy Nelson isn't terrifying. Pena is a decent low-budget play.
