Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano (elbow) had Tommy John surgery Wednesday, March 12, and he's very optimistic about his return to action later this year. "Thank God, everything went well. I think I'll be playing baseball in the fall, but I'm between playing in the Arizona Fall League or winter ball in the Dominican Republic," Sano said. He'll be working on his rehab program in Florida this summer.

Cleveland Indians DH Jason Giambi (rib) will be out three to four weeks with a broken rib in his right side. He was hit by a pitch during the team's March 7 spring game, and an MRI exam revealed the fracture.
FANTASY TIP: Giambi is clinging to life at this point and isn't even a lock to make the major league roster, especially after this injury. If he plays at all this year, it'll be in limited at-bats as the DH. Nothing to see here.

The Houston Texans re-signed TE Garrett Graham to an undisclosed three-year deal Thursday, March 13, according to a league source. Graham caught 49 passes for 545 yards and five touchdowns last season.
FANTASY TIP: Graham has the goods to be a reliable low-end TE1, but the problem is the uncertainty that Houston faces at the quarterback position. Matt Schaub probably isn't the answer anymore, and there's a good chance they take a QB with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Young gunslingers typically rely on their tight ends frequently as safety valves, but consistency would likely be sketchy.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (ankle) is taking his time to come back fully healthy, and there are no plans for him to be with the team for their second series of the regular season against the San Diego Padres. "We're not really sure how this will even work. We're really taking this only a day at a time and a week at a time. We'll see where we are at the end of this week, and by the time we go to Australia, we'll have a plan," trainer Stan Conte said. Kemp went 0-for-6 with four groundouts in a minor league game Wednesday, March 12, but also played six outs in center field. He'll remain behind when the team heads to Australia for a two-game series, and it's also likely that he'll remain there for extended spring camp.

The Baltimore Ravens are considered the favorites to sign free-agent WR Steve Smith (Panthers), according to sources.
FANTASY TIP: Smith would almost certainly be lined up in the slot with Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones on the outside. Smith would no longer be a midrange No. 1 wideout, but he could make enough noise to be a fantasy target in Baltimore's revamped offense.

The Chicago Bears signed free-agent WR Domenik Hixon (Panthers) to an undisclosed one-year deal Thursday, March 13.
FANTASY TIP: Hixon will be too far down the WR depth chart to put up numbers of any real significance behind Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, unless an injury opens up more playing time for him.
