Wed, 09 Jul 2014 16:58:55 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Adam Lind (foot) has a fracture in his foot, and he's expected to miss six to eight weeks. He will go for a second opinion.

FANTASY TIP: Lind will land on the DL, obviously. He was hitting .320 but with only four homers this season. With Edwin Encarnacion also out, Juan Francisco will likely see the majority of starts at first base. Francisco should already be owned in the majority of leagues.

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 16:58:25 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Donnie Murphy rejected his outright assignment, and the team has put him on unconditional release waivers.

San Francisco Giants 2B Marco Scutaro (back) could return to the No. 2 spot in the lineup, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

Texans | Andre Johnson still unsure of future

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 16:42:06 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson said he is still unsure if he will be with the team in Week 1.

FANTASY TIP: Johnson's value this year is very much up in the air because of the uncertainty surrounding his future. He might be more of a WR2 with the Texans, but if he's traded, there could be potential for more, even at his age.

Twins | Danny Santana won't return before break

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 16:34:57 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Danny Santana (knee) has been ruled out of returning from the disabled list this weekend. He'll need to go on a rehab assignment before he returns.

FANTASY TIP: Santana could return immediately following the All-Star break if he can go on a minor league rehab assignment before then.

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 16:22:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Steven Johnson (shoulder) gave up no hits or runs while walking one and striking out none in two innings with Single-A Aberdeen Wednesday, July 9. He recorded five ground-ball outs.

Twins | Kris Johnson coming up

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:51:39 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki hit two solo home runs Wednesday, July 9, bringing his season total to 20.

FANTASY TIP: Tulowitzki hadn't hit a long ball since Sunday, June 15, so the power outburst will receive a warm welcome from fantasy owners.

FANTASY TIP: Make sure Braun is out of your lineup tonight and check his status before setting your lineups tomorrow.

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:37:12 -0700

The Boston Red Sox recalled SP Rubby De La Rosa from Triple-A Pawtucket Wednesday, July 9, and optioned SP Brandon Workman to Pawtucket in a corresponding move.

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:33:27 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker will make two starts with Triple-A Tacoma.

Mariners | Tom Wilhelmsen to start Thursday

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:30:29 -0700

Seattle Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen will receive the start Thursday, July 10.

FANTASY TIP: Wilhelmsen will draw the rare spot start against the Minnesota Twins tomorrow. He has never started a game in the majors, so he probably won't be tasked to pitch that many innings.

Rangers | Derek Holland nearing rehab assignment

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:28:02 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (knee) will throw live batting practice this weekend and then leave for a rehab assignment after the All-Star break. He is tentatively scheduled to make his first start for Triple-A Round Rock Wednesday, July 27, where he is expected to throw approximately 35 pitches.

FANTASY TIP: Holland could return in the middle of August, in a best case scenario. The Rangers have no reason to rush Holland back, but he could still provide a boost to fantasy owners during their stretch drive. He is worth considering in mixed leagues and should be owned in all AL-only formats.

Red Sox | Will Middlebrooks unlikely to return soon

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:27:40 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Will Middlebrooks isn't expected to return to the team soon, as general manager Ben Cherington doesn't seem to be in a rush to bring him back. The team has talked about Middlebrooks playing other positions, and Cherington said he "needs at-bats."

FANTASY TIP: As long as Middlebrooks remains in the minors, that's good news for Brock Holt and Xander Bogaerts. The only place you should be hanging onto Middlebrooks is deep AL-only formats.

Red Sox | A.J. Pierzynski wants to continue playing

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:25:58 -0700

Braves | Evan Gattis update

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 15:18:49 -0700

Atlanta Braves C Evan Gattis (back) is going to remain the team's primary catcher when he returns, and C Christian Bethancourt will return to Triple-A Gwinnett, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez. Gonzalez said he does not know when Gattis will return from the disabled list.

FANTASY TIP: Bethancourt has hit well in his limited at-bats, but he is not worth stashing in NL-only leagues when he is demoted. Gattis is likely two weeks away, at least.
