Updating a previous item, Cincinnati Reds OF Ryan Ludwick (toe) returned to the lineup Sunday, April 20, after missing Saturday's game after fouling a ball off his big toe Friday. Ludwick went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. It was thought Ludwick would miss a few games. "It was pretty painful for 24 hours," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "He could have pinch hit (Saturday). They did a lot of therapy on it. It's better good enough to play. He's done everything he needs to do, run, cut."

"I felt pretty good the last week," he said. "I've been hitting some balls hard right at people. I'm not striking out a lot, so it's been kind of frustrating that some of the balls aren't finding holes. If I keep battling and playing good defense, I know that everything will fall in place."

Brewers | Mike Fiers surging at Triple-A

Mon, 21 Apr 2014 00:07:06 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers is continuing a career resurgence at Triple-A Nashville. Fiers struck out 12 over eight innings, retired 14 consecutive batters at one point and improved to 3-0 on the season for Nashville on Saturday, April 19. He became the first Sounds player to strike out 12 since Yovani Gallardo on June 21, 2007. Fiers' ERA is 0.87, and he's struck out 26 batters against two walks, leaving his WHIP at 0.73.

FANTASY TIP: Considering his 2013 was a hellish nightmare that included the death of his mother, a fracture in his pitching arm and his demotion to the minors, Fiers may be playing himself back into a potential spot start or two should he keep up the good work. It is worth monitoring Fiers in daily leagues should the starter earn a callup, and it may be worth stashing him away on your bench in deeper leagues.
