Thu, 10 Jul 2014 16:26:15 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder (neck) is hopeful that he'll be fully ready for spring training next year, although he has yet to resume baseball activities. Fielder is not trying to return this year. Fielder finished the year with a .247 average and just three home runs in 42 games. "Right now, not really worried about the baseball part. Worried about just actually letting it fuse and letting it heal," Fielder said. "Baseball stuff, that'll be there, obviously, but I just want to heal first before I do anything. Once I get cleared to do something, I don't know how to do under 100 percent."

FANTASY TIP: There will be some hesitance to draft Fielder because of his serious neck injury, but if he's 100 percent healthy in spring training next year, he could be a relative bargain on draft day if the rest of your league mates are wary of the slugger.

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper, who is 4-for-28 with one extra-base hit, four walks and 11 strikeouts since returning from the disabled list, said he knew it would take time to get his timing back. Manager Matt Williams has noticed Harper being jumpy at the plate. "He's close," Williams said. "He popped that ball up (Wednesday) night. He was right on that one. He's right on the other pitches, too. His second at-bat last night was a first-pitch changeup. His path was good. His timing was good. It was just a changeup. It's coming. I know he doesn't want to hear that but he really is coming."

FANTASY TIP: Harper should remain in your starting lineups, as he could start to break out at any moment.
