Wed, 23 Apr 2014 20:49:57 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (groin) is still not quite a full strength, but he said Wednesday, April 23, that he expects to be soon. "I'm on the right path where I'm able to run without any pain," Shorts said. "I still have some work to do and I'm not 100 percent yet, but I'm looking to get there soon. Now, I have to get my strength back and confidence back. Head coach Gus Bradley said Shorts' rehab has gone well, and the receiver is leaner and in great shape.

FANTASY TIP: Shorts is entering the final year of his four-year deal, so if he can stay healthy he will be playing for a big pay day next offseason. That makes him a nice fantasy sleeper.

Manager Bryan Price said Chapman threw all of his pitches. The next step is for Chapman to throw another live BP session without the assistance of a protective screen this weekend in Atlanta. Then, he is likely to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment.

Wed, 23 Apr 2014 20:08:17 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez (shoulder) was removed from his start Wednesday, April 23, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim due to some shoulder tightness. Manager Matt Williams said the tightness was due to a cold night, and he doesn't consider it a big deal.

FANTASY TIP: It sounds like the removal of Gonzalez was simply a precaution, and Gonzalez isn't in danger of missing his next scheduled start which is set for Tuesday, April 29, on the road against the Houston Astros. Barring any unexpected setbacks, start him in all fantasy leagues as you normally would.

Richard Petty Motorsports | Aric Almirola readies for Richmond

Wed, 23 Apr 2014 19:37:42 -0700

Richard Petty Motorsports driver Aric Almirola has posted two Top 10 finishes on short tracks so far this season, so he is looking forward to this week's race at Richmond International Raceway Saturday, April 26. "You know, in years past at (RPM) our mile-and-a-half program has really been our strong suit and I've kind of dreaded going to short tracks," Almirola said. "Even though I like them, I've kind of dreaded it because I knew that our short-track program wasn't very good, and it was a struggled just to run 20th. We had to fight both tooth and nail."

FANTASY TIP: Almirola, who sits 24th in the points, has been a surprise for fantasy owners. Richmond is another short track, so Almirola could be a sneaky fantasy option, especially in salary cap formats, if he duplicates his success from Bristol and Martinsville earlier this season.

Wed, 23 Apr 2014 19:36:15 -0700

FANTASY TIP: Whitt ranks 33rd in the standings, posting no wins, Top 5s or Top 10s in eight starts so far this season. For fantasy purposes, he is usually only a thought in salary cap formats when trying to squeeze in a low-priced option to afford higher priced stars at your other spots.
