San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum spent the offseason changing his approach to pitching. "Now, I'm not trying to get the 10 punchies. I want to get my outs and get through the game, and that's just as gratifying to me as the days I would dominate. It's a different kind of domination to me." The right-hander discussed his realization that he can't get by on his athleticism alone anymore. He says he's become more willing to accept the negative results that come with positive results and his need to throw more strikes in order to be successful.
FANTASY TIP: It's a fascinating little feature, as they usually are, from Jeff Passan. Every pitcher goes through some phase like this, when he must reconcile his diminished physical gifts with his grasp of the craft or face MLB extinction. Lincecum apparently intends to pitch to contact more often. Not a bad thing. It may come with rough patches, but there's reason to think that he could take another step forward from his modest 2013 rebound for those looking for late-round upside.

San Francisco 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert won't be a lock to be the backup to QB Colin Kaepernick this year, and ESPN analyst and former general manager Bill Polian doesn't think Gabbert will make the 53-man roster. Head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke like Gabbert, though, and they'll give him a chance. "We thought highly of Blaine as an early entry into the 2011 NFL draft," said Baalke. "He is a high-character individual that will be given every opportunity to develop within our system and we are looking forward to working with him."

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster is expected to have a big role on offense next season. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt is expected to use McCluster like he did San Diego Chargers RB Danny Woodhead this season when he was the Chargers offensive coordinator. McCluster is expected to be used as a receiver out of the backfield.
FANTASY TIP: It appears McCluster will be involved in the offense with the Titans. Owners in point-per-reception leagues could consider using a late-round flier on McCluster during drafts.
