Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister (elbow) felt good after throwing a 25-pitch bullpen session Friday, March 14, but the next step for him remains unknown. Pitching coach Steve McCatty said there is a possibility that Fister could pitch in a minor league game Sunday, March 16, but manager Matt Williams said he could progress to throwing live batting practice first before pitching in a major league or minor league game, following a re-evaluation.

Baltimore Orioles 3B Manny Machado's (knee) status for Opening Day is in question after he suffered a setback related to his surgically repaired knee, according to manager Buck Showalter. Machado was scheduled to undergo an exam Tuesday, March 11, but the appointment was cancelled because he has been bothered by scar tissue in the knee and has not yet resumed running. "There's no sense in doing (the appointment) until he can really show them what he can do running," Showalter said.

Oakland Athletics SP A.J. Griffin (elbow) will be shut down for three weeks because flexor tendinitis in his elbow. Griffin will not need surgery because no structural damage was evident. Griffin may receive a platelet rich plasma injection in the elbow.
FANTASY TIP: It appears that Griffin will start the regular season on the disabled list because of his elbow injury. Griffin was considered a later-round picks in mixed leagues before the injury but likely will go undrafted in most leagues because of the injury.
