Lions | Mora Jr. Note

Updating an earlier story, Clark Judge reports for FoxSports.com 49ers defensive coordinator Jim Mora Jr. could still be pursued by the Detroit Lions, in addition to the Carolina Panthers. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Lions hadn't contacted the 49ers for permission to talk to Mora or any other assistants. They want Mora as their next defensive coordinator as much as Carolina, and if the 49ers grant permission he'll go to Detroit. He is expected to pick Detroit because reportedly they will pay more and he can be reunited with coach Steve Mariucci. If Mora joins the Lions, look for defenesive coordinator Kurt Schottenheimer to stay with the club as, possibly, its secondary coach.
