Pirates | Restless Neil Walker ready to return
Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker (appendix) has been sidelined for the past eight days after having an appendectomy, but he is ready to return from the 15-day disabled list. He has seven more days until he is eligible to come back, and he is annoying manager Clint Hurdle. "He's living up to that 'Dennis the Menace' nickname I dropped on him five minutes after I met him," Hurdle said Tuesday, June 17. "He's gonna simulate being an extra man, he'll go up in the (indoor batting) cage and hit off the machine, with velocity and spin. The more he (yaps), the healthier he's getting. He came up here (into my office) twice today, which never happens when he's healthy."
Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Walker will be ready to come off the DL as soon as he is eligible. It's uncertain if he will need a game or two in the minors for a rehab stint, but fantasy owners should prepare to activate him next week. When Walker does return, there is no way Gregory Polanco will be displaced, so Josh Harrison likely stands to lose playing time.
