Nationals | Gio Gonzalez says he's ready
Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez (shoulder) said he's ready to return to the starting rotation after making his final rehab start with Single-A Potomac Thursday, June 12. He gave up one run and two hits while striking out seven Thursday. "I felt like I was a little more on top of the ball this time," Gonzalez said. "Fastball was coming out with more life. It just felt like right where I needed to be." Gonzalez is eligible to come off the disabled list Tuesday, June 17, against the Houston Astros, but he'd be more likely to start Wednesday, June 18.
