Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury plays, unsure if he'll be ready

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (calf) played in a minor league game Wednesday, March 26, and went 1-for-4 with a single a walk and three hard-hit balls. He played the field as well and ran the bases during the contest. Ellsbury is still unsure if he'll be ready to play by opening day, though. "I feel good right now. We still have four games left. I got 11 at-bats the last two days, and I'm sure that's more than any of those guys got. I'll relay that to Joe, and we'll make up a plan tonight after their game, so I'll go in and take care of what I need to." However, general manager Brian Cashman is optimistic that Ellsbury will be ready. The Yankees could back date a DL stint if they need to, reducing the number of games he might miss in the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: The worst-case scenario would be for Ellsbury to open on the DL and miss a handful of games, at the most. It's not the way you want to see his season begin, but you shouldn't be terribly worried just yet.
