Mets | Matt Harvey intends to return this year
New York Mets SP Matt Harvey (elbow) is adamant that he thinks he can return and pitch this August. Harvey had Tommy John surgery Oct. 22 of last year, so he could be throwing long toss by June. He's already been tossing a ball on flat ground at 60 feet, and he could move to 75 feet later in the week. Harvey is feeling great and wants to stay with the team during his rehab, although general manager Sandy Alderson prefers that Harvey remain in Florida to rehab.
Fantasy Tip: Harvey is a fierce competitor and is attacking his rehab from TJS with fire. That doesn't mean that he'll have his way when it comes to returning to pitch in the majors later this year. The Mets want Harvey to be their ace for the long haul, so rushing him back makes zero sense. Forget about Harvey being fantasy-relevant in 2014.
