Red Sox | Jake Peavy injured while fishing
Boston Red Sox SP Jake Peavy (finger) was scratched from his first spring start Monday, March 3, after cutting his left index finger with a fishing knife Saturday, March 1, according to manager John Farrell. "He's going to be 'no-throw' for three days and then initiate a throwing program off the mound," Farrell said. "It's his non-throwing hand, so he can keep his arm in shape, but he's a scratch for tomorrow." Peavy underwent a procedure on the finger Sunday, March 2, to make sure there was no infection in the finger.
Fantasy Tip: Peavy is clearly behind the other pitchers in camp right now, but his injuries have been minor, so there's still a chance he'll be ready for his first regular season start. If he's not, he shouldn't miss more than a start or two. Peavy should be owned in all leagues as rotation depth.
