Mets | Want to see progress from Matt Harvey
The New York Mets are hoping to see some tangible progress from SP Matt Harvey (elbow), who has yet to start a throwing program, very soon. "The fact that he's not throwing now, I wouldn't say is concerning, but we need to see some progress. I hope that he will be throwing shortly," general manager Sandy Alderson said at a news conference. "I want to emphasize this isn't a rehab program. This is a diagnostic program. We'll see what happens." Harvey chose rehab over surgery, but if he needs to undergo Tommy John surgery, he'll miss all of the 2014 season. He's currently working with physical therapist and is expected to move to Florida to start his throwing program soon.
Fantasy Tip: Harvey will be a risk heading into the 2014 season if he avoids surgery in the offseason; rarely do Tommy John surgery candiates end up avoiding the procedure through rest and rehab. Be careful not to overpay for what he's unlikely to duplicate next year if he miraculously avoids a surgery.
