Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez likely needs surgery
Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will likely need to undergo surgery to fix a torn ligament in his right middle finger. Gonzalez has been resting for 10 weeks, but it hasn't solved the problem. He'll visit with a hand specialist Thursday, Sept. 19, and he'll have surgery within the next two months if it is recommended. "It's my decision," Gonzalez said. "I am probably going to have it regardless of what he says. It's just not getting any better. I want to be ready for spring training."
Fantasy Tip: It's probably safe to drop Cargo from your roster at this point. The surgery shouldn't have any effect on Gonzalez's 2014 outlook, unless he suffers a setback early next year heading into spring training.
