Rangers | Matt Harrison has thoracic outlet syndrome
Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (shoulder, back, elbow) has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome in his right shoulder and will undergo surgery to alleviate the issue Monday, Sept. 9. The procedure, which will require the removal of the upper left rib, will be performed in Dallas by Dr. Greg Pearl. Harrison is expected to meet with team back specialist Dr. Drew Dossett the following week but has had to limit rehab work recently to give it time to rest.
Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Harrison's surgery involves his non-throwing shoulder. He was scheduled to miss the remainder of the 2013 season anyway because of previous surgeries to fix a herniated disc in his back. He expects to be at 100 percent by spring training.
