Pirates | Kris Johnson called up
The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up P Kris Johnson from Triple-A Indianapolis. He was 10-4 with two saves and led the International League with a 2.41 ERA. Johnson will pitch out of the bullpen, although he started 20 of the 25 games he appeared in at Indianapolis. "Kris gives us the most innings and pitches available," general manager Neal Huntington said. "We looked at the reliever group at Triple-A, and Kris has put himself in a position to be a legitimate September (call-up) candidate. He was our best guy available to help this club today."
