Giants | Ryan Vogelsong's velocity down
San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong has been pretty shaky in his first two starts off the disabled list, and he allowed three runs and threw 92 pitches in only 3 2/3 innings against the Washington Nationals Thursday, Aug. 15. His fastball is sitting in the 87-89 mph range, too, which is around three mph slower than his normal heater. The Giants could choose to rest Vogelsong down the stretch, especially since he started his offseason earlier than normal in order to pitch in the World Baseball Classic. "It's frustrating because I know I'm behind everyone else who's in midseason form," he said. "That being said, I know that I need to get pitchers where they need to go." However, his arm feels great, since his injury was to his hand.
Fantasy Tip: You can probably find better starting pitching options in mixed leagues. The possibility that San Fran could shut him down or skip him down the stretch makes him even less desirable for the remainder of the year.
