Stewart-Haas Racing | Tony Stewart breaks leg
Stewart-Haas Racing driver Tony Stewart (leg) suffered a broken right leg during a sprint car race Monday, Aug. 5, at Southern Iowa Speedway, and he will not race in the Sprint Cup Series event this weekend at Watkins Glen. Stewart broke his right tibia and fibula and underwent surgery. Stewart-Haas Racing hasn't announced a replacement for the No. 14 Chevrolet this weekend. Stewart is 11th in the Cup standings with five races to go until the Chase is set. A physician that works with drivers said weight bearing will be a challenge for Stewart for an injury that usually is "up to 12 weeks for a full recovery."
Fantasy Tip: Stewart's injury could require some time to recover from, so with only five races left until the Chase field is set, it seems very unlikely that he'll make the field. You won't be able to rely on Stewart this weekend at a track that he's had plenty of success at. Keep an eye on his progress, but it might be a while until you can confidently rely on him in your lineup, and possibly not again this season.
