Yankees | More on Alex Rodriguez
Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (quadriceps, hip) has informed the team that he is healthy and ready to play. Rodriguez wants to be in the starting lineup Friday, July 26, when the team plays the Tampa Bay Rays. "He feels he has no choice," a source told ESPNNewYork.com. "He wants to play and they won't let him play. Nobody knows Alex's body better than he does." Rodriguez's doctor, Dr. Michael Gross, said Rodriguez's MRI exam showed no damage to his quadriceps that should keep him from playing. The Yankees are exploring the possibility that Rodriguez is in violation of the league's collective bargaining agreement by seeking a second medical opinion and not notifying the team.
