Red Sox | Jon Lester's cutter: source of agony?
Boston Red Sox SP Jon Lester gave up a home run to Seattle Mariners OF Raul Ibanez in the fifth inning on Monday, July 8, on a cut fastball, a pitch similar to the one that 1B Justin Smoak hit for a double in the first inning of the same game. According to BrooksBasell.net, Lester's cutter has been considerably less effective this season, particularly when he has two strikes on a batter.
Fantasy Tip: Drelich uncovers some data here that some of the BoSox don't seem ready to accept. Perhaps it's a pitch that Lester needs to ditch in order to become successful again, although that pitch was a large of his success in previous years. It sounds like Lester might still have a ways to go to figure things out. Perhaps it's not the worst idea to sell low to someone who believes a turnaround is imminent.
