White Sox | Jake Peavy about ready to return
Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (rib) threw a 76-pitch simulated game on Tuesday, July 9, at Comerica Park. He seems to feel that he's ready to be activated from the DL, but it seems likely that he'll make a rehab start for Double-A Birmingham on Sunday, July 14, instead. Manager Robin Ventura remarked that Peavy looked "free and easy" in the sim game. C Tyler Flowers gave an extensive review and stated that he felt Peavy "looked probably better than normal." It's unclear whether the right-handed pitcher will require more than one rehab start.
Fantasy Tip: The ChiSox likely still hope to peddle Peavy, so they're probably going to play this conservatively and have the righty make at least the one rehab start. It sounds like that's all he'll need, since he's done a lot of side work to get back in shape. Fantasy owners can probably expect his turn to come up just after the break.
